Barbara Kinkelaar, M.Ed., SAP  

 

Barbara Kinkelaar, MEd, SAP, is a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Licensed Addiction Counselor.  She provides clinical services to adolescents, adults, couples, and/or families. Her areas of focus include but are not limited to:

 
    ● Utilizes a holistic approach and cognitive-behavioral techniques;
    ● Treatment of anxiety and mood disorders;
    ● Evaluation and treatment of addictive disorders including alcohol, drugs, sexual compulsivity, and gambling; 
    ● Intervention services for families confronting a loved one's alcohol, drug or behavioral addiction;
    ● Adolescent, adult, couple's counseling.  Collaborating with individuals navigating personal crisis, transitions, or relationship challenges. 

 

Ms. Kinkelaar is a member of the National Association of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors and the Society for Addiction Counselors of Colorado.

Over twenty years experience in substance abuse, mental health and personal growth counseling, including residential, outpatient, employee assistance, and correctional settings.

Experienced in treatment of adult and adolescent populations.

Utilizing individual and group process.

Application of holistic and eclectic methods recognizing the importance of approaching each individual without pre-conceived notions. 

 

Cognitive behavioral strategies for management of depression and anxiety;

Victim assistance and recovery;

Anger management;

Relationship resolution and enhancement;

Motivational Enhancement and Choice Theory to address adolescent dilemmas.
